Jonathan Ruff, owner of Tamba Park which has been shut for several months, posted on social media and explained that the programme – Ruff’s Kitchens – is still providing food to children in Zimbabwe.
He said he had been regularly asked about what has happened to his charity programme in Zimbabwe in the wake of the park’s closure but said he is now funding it himself.
Revenue from Tamba Park was used to contribute towards the scheme but Mr Ruff said this was not the sole source of funds for Ruff’s Kitchens.
He said: ‘I have been asked a lot recently what happens to the Ruff’s Kitchens feeding programme while Tamba is shut.
‘Well I am proud to say it continues, although Tamba contributed towards the feeding programme it never fully funded it, this is something I have done personally for many years.
‘We are currently feeding over 3,000 children daily (when at school).
‘Poor Zimbabwe seems to be going backwards fast! Lets hope it turns a corner soon, but while it’s in such despair we need to do what we can to help them through this time.’
In September, Mr Ruff said that new plans for the Tamba Park site could be released in a matter of weeks.
He spoke after a fire broke out in greenhouses at the site, the third time it had happened in as many of years.
