New restaurants on the menu in St Aubin

The Old Court House Inn reopened last week after a month-long refurbishment by owner Liberation Group.

And on Thursday a new Italian restaurant Sorrento.je will open on the site of the Bon Viveur restaurant. Maurizio Marzana and Enzo Savarese, who worked at the Old Court House in the 1970s and have been owners of the Bon Viveur for more than 30 years, have retired and the new restaurant will be run by Mr Savarese’s nephew, Alessandro La Ragione, and his cousin, the chef Salvatore La Ragione.

The new restaurant will feature a range of Italian pasta, pizza and risotto dishes as well as fresh fish dishes. Work is also continuing on a new steak and sushi restaurant on the site opposite St Brelade’s Parish Hall formerly occupied by Cheffins.

Shinzo is set to open in late April and features an outdoor bar and seating area.

Gavin Roberts, the man behind the new venture, said he had filled key positions such as a manager and head chef for the restaurant, while recruitment for other roles was ongoing.

Nina Garcia, operations manager for the Liberation Group, said of the refurbishment at the Old Court House: ‘We’ve really gone to town and we’re delighted with the new look and feel. Pretty much every area has been subtly refreshed and has a more contemporary feel.’
