Mr Carter (38), who has worked for the trust since completing his university studies in in 1989, beat off three other candidates, all from the UK.His appointment was announced last night by trust chairman Jurat John de Veulle at a reception for Mr Day at the Jersey Museum.

The announcement was greeted with loud cheers and applause from trust staff and invited guests.Speaking to the JEP this morning, Jurat de Veulle said that the appointment from within the organisation would mean a smooth succession.’The trust supported his application and so they’ve endorsed his success.

It’s an extremely popular appointment with the staff and everyone.

Inevitably there will be a different style, he’s his own man and when he returns from holiday we will be discussing his plans for the future.’Mr Day was also delighted with the succession.’I am delighted that he has succeeded in getting the post…

and I know that the trust could not be in better hands.’
