Hosepipe ban

Hosepipe ban

It is the first time in 14 years that a hosepipe ban has been enforced because of dwindling supplies.

The ban also effects sprinklers, pressure-washers and forecourt car washes.Restrictions have also been placed on watering public parks and nurseries with hosepipes, vehicle and boat washing with hosepipes, private swimming pool filling, topping up or filter washing, and street and shopfront washing with hosepipes. And if the dry spell continues into the autumn – as predicted – there could be a total ban on watering cans, and window and car washing with buckets of water.

Anyone with mains water who is reported to be flouting the law could face a £200 fine on the first occasion and £2,000 thereafter.
