Staff training pays off at Voisins

The department store is also the first shop in King Street to attain the accreditation, which is a globally recognised standard of good practice for improving the performance of an organisation through the training and development of its staff.

oisins currently employs 162 staff and, as part of the IIP requirements, the store’s in-house personnel and training department developed an action plan to attain, retain and develop staff at all levels.

he standard is based on four key principles; commitment, planning, action and evaluation.

The principles are broken down into 12 indicators, against which organisations are assessed over a period of time.

Voisins has been working towards the standard for the past 18 months.

I am delighted that we have gained this award and I would like to pay tribute to all those who have persevered to achieve success,’ said the store’s owner, Deputy Gerald Voisin.

‘Investors in People demonstrates that Voisins is committed to investing in its staff, which in turn helps to develop the company for the future.

Georgina Platten, Voisins’ training manager, added: ‘Since we began working towards IIP, the culture around the store has become a very open one.

All staff attend communication sessions once a month, which are designed to help them fully understand their contribution to the success of the business.

Our people are our most important asset, being committed to their training and development is key to the future success of our business.

We are thrilled to become the first King Street retailer to achieve the accreditation.
