P&R to put their side at St Martin Les Pas meeting

P & R vice-president Senator Terry Le Sueur will join former Senator Dick Shenton and St Martin Deputy Bob Hill on the platform.

It is intended that all three will speak and a question and answer session will follow. However, an invitation extended to Advocate Richard Falle of Les Pas was not taken up as he will be out of the Island on 27 August. On Tuesday, hundreds of people turned up to a public meeting called by Mr Shenton about the proposed Les Pas deal.

The meeting was scheduled to be held inside the Town Hall but because of the huge crowd, it was moved outside.Mr Shenton made an impassioned plea for the States to ditch the proposed deal to give Les Pas a prime £10m waterfront site in return for dropping its claim to ownership of the St Helier foreshore. However, Senator Le Sueur said that much of what was said ignored the fact that the legal claim to the ownership of the foreshore continues.

He said that he was looking forward to being able to tell the public the position that P & R found itself in and why the committee was putting the proposed deal to the States.
