Future of air display threatened

The free event is one of the Island’s biggest tourist attractions but the annual spectacular is organised by a small band of volunteers who rely on an even smaller collection of generous sponsors to fund it.Now the air display’s co-ordinator, Mike Higgins, is calling on individuals and businesses in Jersey – and particularly potential sponsors – to help.’The air display is non-profit making, which means we have no reserves to carry us into the next year,’ he said.

‘We have a small number of committed sponsors, such as David and Anne Crossland, who together contribute the £130,000 we need each year but it is increasingly difficult to find the money.

‘We are not resourced for any shocks and we need to establish a buffer to ensure the event’s continued success.
