And no one from the Island will be involved in the inquiry’s decision making process, if the States accept proposals to be put before the House by the Policy and Resources Committee.It is anticipated that someone with both a legal and political background will be sought to carry out the job of hearing and sifting through what is likely to be a mass of evidence, both written and oral.

It is hoped the inquiry will be convened before the end of this year but it is expected it will be an expensive exercise.

The States will probably to be asked to approve funding from the General Reserve to pay the bills.Policy and Resources Committee president Senator Frank Walker has promised a thorough and rigorous inquiry examining all aspects of the events that led to the States agreeing to the £10m Les Pas land deal earlier this week.
