Competing in Tegucigalpa in Honduras, Central America, Aubert had to finish in the first 24 yesterday if she was to go through to the next round of the competition today.After finishing in 18th place after the first day’s bowling, and 21st on Tuesday, she was in 25th place last night with an average score of 196.10 and a total score of 3,922 pins.In 24th place was Finald’s Tiia Einola with 3,925 so, by three pins, Aubert was eliminated.In a phone call to her mother last night she said that in her second series of games – in total she bowled 20 – she had pulled a muscle, and that what also cost her a place in the final was a disappointing score of 139 in one of the games.However, after appearing four times in the world cup, she is adamant that she will return next year to get through to the final stages.Currently in the lead is Marie Raminez of San José, Costa Rica, with an average of 229.15.

After 12 games today the top eight go through to tomorrow’s quarter-finals.In the men’s competition, led by 29-year-old American Bill Hoffman with an average of 232.95, Jersey’s Matt Minier also slumped from 52nd place on Tuesday to 61st place, with an average of 185.25, yesterday.He, too, misses the cut, as does Guernsey’s Derek Tomlin who finished in 37th place with an average of 198.85.
