John Harris, director of international finance at the States Policy and Resources Department, said Jersey was making ‘slow and steady progress’ to right the international prejudice and misunderstanding of recent years.
ontrary to recent claims in the national media, he said relations with the UK were better than ever and that a recent visit to Spain had provided the opportunity to explain ‘what financial services in Jersey is really about’.
r Harris told delegates at the Jersey Society of Chartered and Certified Accountants conference that Jersey was facing four main international challenges: from the OECD, the European Union, increased regulation and competitor finance centres.
