St Helier Deputy resigns from Home Affairs

Deputy Hilton says that her resignation is due to pressure of work from other States positions.In a statement, the Deputy said: ‘I have found the increasing workload resulting from my appointment as vice-president of the Environment and Public Services Committee and chairman of the Planning sub-committee leaves me with very little time to devote to the very pressing issues facing the Home Affairs Committee at this time.’She said she had enjoyed her time with Home Affairs.

‘It is with regret that I find myself in this position as law and order has always been, and will continue to be, extremely important to me,’ she said.Deputy Hilton said she would like to have a role to play during the formation of new criminal justice policy and was looking forward to making a contribution in all matters relating to Home Affairs from the back benches.
