Police hatch Halloween plan

In an attempt to combat groups of children pelting homes and cars the police have been asking local shops and supermarkets in the traditional trouble-spots to take the baking ingredients off their shelves.Instead, customers who wish to buy eggs or flour can ask a member of staff who will recover the items from store rooms.

Under no circumstances will they be sold directly to children.It is also understood that extra officers, both States and honorary, will be on duty this Halloween.Police Insp Sara Garwood said the force was trying to prevent anything from happening this year.

‘We have been and are going round advising shop owners that they should not be selling eggs and flour to kids at this time of year.Two years ago the Jersey Evening Post reported the story of an elderly couple in First Tower who employed a security guard to keep children away from their home.

It did not work and their house was pelted with eggs throughout the night.
