Tourism increase Island’s stock by going back 800 years

The Britain Visitor Centre in Regent Street went medieval at the start of a week-long promotion of the Channel Islands.

Representatives of Jersey Tourism and Guernsey’s Tourism Board were on hand to promote their 1204-2004 programmes.Tourism’s David de Carteret was delighted with the event.

‘It was a very successful evening,’ he said.

‘The whole of the visitor centre was themed for the evening and will remain so throughout the week for a Channel Islands promotion.’Tourism have made 2004 ‘heritage year’ and will be running a programme of walks and tours to complement the events being organised by the Jersey Heritage Trust, Jersey Arts Centre, Education, parishes and organisations under the umbrella of Policy and Resources’ 1204-2004 organising committee.

About 250 members of the UK travel trade attended the event in London.
