The male civilian support officer, who has not been named, was dismissed some time since Mr Power took up the chief officer post in December 2000.Speaking in the wake of last night’s BBC exposé of racism at a police training school, Mr Power said it would be naive to think that any organisation was totally free of racism.
However, he insisted that the force came down very hard on anyone found to behave improperly, adding that there were various ways of identifying and weeding such people out.
