John and Margaret Potter , from Woodbridge in Suffolk, were walking back from Elizabeth Castle at 12.45 pm when the twister lifted them into the air. Before they knew what was happening, the pair, who are in their mid-70s and on holiday for a week, were dumped on the sand next to the causeway.’It was frightening,’ said Mrs Potter.

‘We were walking back from the castle when we were suddenly lifted up, shot along a bit and thrown down on the sand.
