Thomas Lavin (52) admitted being knowingly concerned in the importation of cannabis with a street value of £40,000 and ecstasy tablets worth £50,000.Lavin was told by the Deputy Bailiff, Michael Birt, who was sitting with the Superior Number, that although the court accepted his claim that he believed he was bringing only cannabis into the Island, that was not considered to be a mitigating factor.Crown Advocate Cyril Whelan said that Lavin had been stopped on his arrival at Elizabeth Terminal earlier this month when he had driven ashore with his niece and her four-year-old daughter.
