Emeraude takeover approved

The takeover was approved by the Tribunal de Commerce in St Malo in an announcement released this morning.It is understood that at least for the time being, sailings will continue as scheduled, although this has yet to be confirmed.Only one part-time job will be lost in Jersey, although ten jobs will go in St Malo.This morning a senior maritime director of Sogestran, Michel Le Roux , left St Malo for Jersey.

He was due to spend the morning in a meeting with Emeraude’s Jersey chief executive, Gordon Forrest, and this afternoon would meet Harbours and Airport president Senator Len Norman.

The chairman of Sogestran, Gerard Perrin, told reporters in St Malo this morning that his company was willing to ‘undergo financial transactions’ aimed at resolving the question of debts owed to Jersey and French companies by Emeraude.
