ead teacher Robert Fairhurst explained: ‘We rapidly reached the 12 key issues upon which assessment is carried out.

‘The appraisal scheme turned out to be the missing link in determining the training needs of those staff members.

Mr Fairhurst, who has steered two schools through the IIP process in the UK, was approached by the States Training and Employment Partnership earlier this year.

He said: ‘Achieving this standard has given us more confidence because the management now know that good practice here meets the standard of good practice anywhere.

Haute Vallée has 770 pupils and a total staff of 72.
