The cash comes from a Planning Obligation Agreement made between the former Environment and Public Services Committee and the Boat House restaurant in 2005.
The restaurant was given the go-ahead for extra seating by the committee in 2005 on condition that they paid the Planning Department £20,000 to fund parking improvements in the area to accommodate potential extra visitors.
The information by the minister comes just days before Senator Ben Shenton tables a question in the States asking for confirmation that the Boat House had paid ?20,000 to Planning to fund community improvements in St Aubin. Senator Shenton wants to know how the money has been used and whether cash payments to the department are a common occurrence.
