Jersey’s mixed blend could be a winner with winner

Don’t mistake that for arrogance though, Jersey know that Petersfield will probably start as favourites, away from these shores at least, to regain the cup for the county mainland.

But the fact that so many of last year’s history-making cup winners – the final victory over Gosport and Fareham at St Peter provided the club’s first ever county silverware – will again be on duty tomorrow has Jersey head coach Bob Shambrook ‘quietly confident’.

And yet it is still an exceptionally young squad that will take to the field at 12.30 tomorrow, with no fewer than six of the Academy’s under-16s in the party of 20 – and half of them in the starting line-up.
