After the owner received a call telling him that someone was tampering with his boat at the Elizabeth Marina, a major operation was launched involving the States and honorary police, the Jersey Coastguard, the Jersey Fire and Rescue Service and the St Helier inshore lifeboat.
At one stage in the incident it is believed that those involved in the chase considered that escaped prisoner Darren McCormack might be on board.
However, that proved not to be the case and the incident is not believed to be connected with his disappearance.
