News reports say that Cyclone Nargis may so far have killed 100,000 people. The 120 mph storm hit the Irrawaddy Delta and destroyed a vast rice-growing area. It destroyed the majority of homes in its path and is thought to have left up to a million people homeless.
But while Burma has agreed that it will accept aid from all countries, it is refusing to let in any more foreign workers to manage the necessary operations.
