Final glory a cricketing bonus for Jersey

The hosts’ fifth victory of the week in the Division V tournament netted them a place in today’s final against Afghanistan who beat Nepal in the other semi-final at Grainville. Today’s final starts at 11 am at Grainville and a huge crowd is expected.

Jersey posted a respectable 220 for 5 off their 50 overs following a sparkling 122-run opening partnership between Peter Gough and Steve Carlyon, while captain Matt Hauge starred with the ball, collecting five wickets for 37 runs, to win the man of the match award.

The 12 team tournament, a huge success despite the best efforts of the weather to disrupt it, finishes today with five other classification matches being held around the Island’s other cricket venues.
