Footballers pay their own way

THE Jersey Football Association kicked off their membership scheme this week and it got off to a good start.

The scheme has been introduced in an effort to offset current annual losses of £25,000 a season and the response by way of payments over the opening few days has been good.

Paul Creeden, the JFA’s chief executive officer, said: ‘The scheme has been activated and introduced this week and I’m pleased to say that the response has been much better than I expected for the first few days.

‘Letters explaining the scheme and how to pay were sent to players who were registered last season and there has been a steady flow of replies back already which is extremely pleasing.
