I NOTE the current debate on the vexatious questions of Jersey’s future independence and the desire to adopt Central European Time, each topic no doubt requiring referendums in due course.
Would it be more economic to have a single referendum to determine that the Island is truly independent coupled with a newly created ‘Jersey’s Own Time’, established for discussion’s sake, with Jersey noon some 23 minutes before that of GMT noon?
One wonders if London and Brussels would be confused, or whether they would care a jot!
