IN reply to the criticism from Mrs Kisch regarding my recent views on the European Union, I agree my knowledge on European history is limited.
One thing history has taught me, however, is that this is the third attempt by a European country in less than 100 years to seek European domination (Germany being the most influential EU member country).
This latest attempt may be ‘third time lucky’ as their politicians are as skilful in Brussels as their previous leader was in warmongering. Thankfully, this attempt will see no shots fired in anger.
Mrs Kisch refers to Britain’s ‘conquering’ of the USA, Canada, and Australia. This is surely the wrong verb.
During the formation of the British Empire, I do not recall reading that millions of lives were lost along the way, as was the case in Europe.
Neither the victors nor the vanquished should be allowed to forget these important historical events. Excuse me for being proud to be British.
