Co-op buys quarter of Jersey Pharmacy

THE Channel Islands Co-operative Society has bought 25 per cent of Jersey Pharmacy Services Limited’s shares.

JPSL currently operate the pharmacies in both the St Helier and St Peter Grand Marchés as well as De Faye’s at David Place, Turpin Chemist in Roseville Street, and the Village Pharmacy Chemist at Temple Court in St John.

Subsequent to the merger, JPSL has also acquired a further two stores in Guernsey through the purchase of Lloyds.

Jim Hopley, Co-op chief executive, said: ‘We are extremely pleased to have been working with JPSL since August last year. Bryan Eden, JPSL director, added: ‘With the Co-op’s involvement in our pharmacy group, we have been looking at the medium term planning to expand in both Jersey and Guernsey.
