Hague not fazed by tough opener

ICC European Division II champions Jersey face hosts Tanzania in their opening match in the World Cricket League Division IV next month.

And hot on the heels of their opener comes a rematch with Afghanistan, who Jersey were beaten by in the World Cricket League Division V final at Grainville by two wickets in a pulsating match on the final day of May.

Jersey captain Matt Hague (pictured), said: ‘There are fewer teams in this tournament and we have to play them all, so it doesn’t matter to me who we play and in what order. ‘What is important is that we get off to a good start and maintain it throughout the week.

‘Obviously we know about Afghanistan and Italy because we have played them before but we know nothing about the rest. Our game in South Africa against Afghanistan will be totally different to the match at Grainville because the playing surface will be completely different. I’m confident we can beat them and I’d back us to do that.’
