Watersplash: Comments from public still welcome

PLANS for a £10 million surfing centre at the Watersplash are being drawn up ‘with the desire to meet everyone’s expectations’, according to the owner, David Seymour.

He is still in the process of developing the plans with his architect before submitting a formal application to Planning next year. Mr Seymour said that although the main consultation period had ended he was still accepting any comments from the public.

In June the hotelier displayed new plans for the scheme, which included casual and fine dining restaurants, a surf shop, a small skateboarding bowl, a climbing wall for younger children, entertainment facilities and six surf lodges with a total of 24 beds for visitors.

‘It is still open to comment even though the main consultation period has closed,’ he said. ‘There is still a desire for us to meet everyone’s expectations. We have been working on this for four years and I cannot see a formal application going in this year.’
