SENATOR-elect Alan Breckon has condemned two States Members for failing to attend their own nomination meeting for the Deputies’ elections.

In a strongly-worded e-mail to all States Members, Deputy Breckon said that Transport Minister Guy de Faye and Deputy Jacqui Huet’s non-attendance at the Town Hall was ‘arrogant’ and showed a lack of respect to voters.

At the time of the nominations on Tuesday evening, Deputy de Faye was part of a delegation meeting senior French politicians in Paris, and Deputy Huet was in London conducting Overseas Aid Commission interviews as part of her work as chairman of the group.

In the e-mail, sent to Members yesterday morning, Deputy Breckon said that the absence of the Deputies – both standing in St Helier No 3 – could not be justified. He said: ‘I felt that we all as States Members were embarrassed because neither Jacqui Huet nor Guy de Faye was present for their nomination.
