SNOW: Today’s Health services – what has been affected?

Here are Health’s plans for Thursday:

•Emergency Care: Contingency measures will ensure the Hospital retains a 24/7 capability to provide emergency care

•Ambulance Service: Ambulances will answer emergency calls as normal, with an extra vehicle and snow chains available if necessary. Islanders are asked to only call ‘999’ in cases of genuine emergency

•Inpatient Appointments (General Hospital): Those who have appointments for surgery should attend as scheduled, as long as they are able to safely travel to the Hospital. Those who cannot travel safely should ring the number on their appointment letter, or 442464, and re-arrange – every effort will be made to offer a new appointment time with minimal delays

•Outpatient Appointments (General Hospital): Clinics will still run, and patients are advised to keep their appointments as long as they are able to safely travel to the Hospital. Those who cannot travel safely to their appointment should ring the number on their appointment letter, or 442464, and re-arrange – every effort will be made to offer a new appointment time with minimal delays

•Patient Transport Service: PTS vehicles will be operating and available to transport patients to appointments where necessary

•Appointments (Social Services): People with appointments should attend as normal, provided they are able to safely travel. Those who cannot travel safely to their appointment should ring the number on their appointment letter and re-arrange – every effort will be made to offer a new appointment time with minimal delays

•Outpatients Appointments (Westmount/ Overdale site): These clinics are cancelled on Thursday due to anticipated difficulty in accessing the site. All patients will be contacted and offered new appointments

•Day Centres: There will be no PTS transportation available to any day centre services. The day centres at Sandybrook and The Hollies will be cancelled on Thursday; however both The Willows and Le Geyt will be open for any clients who are able to arrange their own safe transport arrangements
