A LAND-ROVER driver who crashed through a wall and into a post while more than two and a half times over the legal alcohol limit has been banned from driving for 30 months.
Stuart Herbert Wilkinson admitted the charge of drinking and driving, telling the Magistrate’s Court: ‘It was totally my fault.’
He was also ordered to carry out 120 hours of community service and must retake his driving test before getting on the road again.
The court heard that the incident happened on 23 February, with St Peter Centenier Joao Camara saying that Wilkinson (55) was driving along Grande Route de St Pierre at around 7.35pm, heading towards St Ouen, when his black Land Rover Discovery left the road and crashed through a garden wall, hitting a post in the garden.
He was taken to hospital and was found to have 213 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 grams.
Passing sentence, Assistant Magistrate Sarah Fitz warned him: ‘Were there to be any recurrence, you would most definitely be looking at custody.’
