England manager Gareth Southgate remains relaxed over his future and is yet to hold any contract talks with the Football Association.

The 47-year-old is tied down until Euro 2020 with FA chief executive Martin Glenn confirming this month he wants to extend the deal.

Southgate guided the Three Lions to the semi-final of the World Cup in the summer – the joint furthest the country has gone on foreign soil – losing 2-1 to Croatia in extra time.

He said: “No. There have been discussions around what we have done and I have to say the board have been great in terms of buying into us pushing the young players and that could have gone differently for us in the summer.

“For me it is not a priority. That is how I get the team going in the next couple of years, really.

Southgate named his first squad after the World Cup on Thursday ahead of next month’s Nations League game with Spain at Wembley and friendly in Leicester with Switzerland.

Luke Shaw, who has not played for England since March 2017, has been recalled at the expense of Manchester United team-mate Ashley Young.

Uncapped Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy has also been included while Liverpool’s Joe Gomez is in along with club colleague Adam Lallana who missed out on the final squad for Russia after an injury-hit season.
